[Webinar] At a crossroads: The future of Finland’s gambling policy
27.08.2021
The Finnish government is currently preparing to update the country’s online gambling laws, with discussions in Parliament foreseen to start in September. Consumer protection will be high on the agenda amid heated public debate about the country’s gambling monopoly and its image, with monopoly beneficiaries increasingly calling for a reform of their funding. Finland’s online gambling policy is at a cross-roads and the government faces a clear choice: reinforce its current monopoly system, or undertake a much more fundamental rethink about how it regulates online gambling.
The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) invites you to join us on Thursday, 09 September (15.00-16.00 CEST) for a lively webinar debate about Finland’s online gambling policy, its monopoly system, the multi-licensing alternative, and the advantages and disadvantages of both, with a focus on the experiences of Finland and other EU member states.
We will discuss Finland’s regulated and unregulated online gambling market; gambling harm and prevention in Finland; contributions to good causes in Finland; and learnings from other European countries.
* The webinar will be in English language.
