Safer gambling messaging sees 20% growth in 2022, with increasingly personalised approach – new report from EGBA

EGBA members sent 45.5 million messages to their customers last year to promote safer gambling, with nearly half of these being personalised, according to EGBA’s latest sustainability report. BRUSSELS, TODAY – Members of the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) stepped up their efforts to promote safer gambling last year, sending 45.5 million safer gambling messages to their customers, a 20% yearly increase, according to the organisation’s third annual sustainability report published today. Nearly half, or 48%, of these communications were personalised, meaning that they were sent to individual customers in direct response to their actual playing behaviour, up from 40% the previous year, indicating an increasingly personalised approach by EGBA members to safer gambling promotion. APAJO joins EGBA in EU initiative on online advertising and copyright protection

APAJO, the Portuguese online gambling association, has signed up to a European Commission initiative aimed at reducing advertising on copyright-infringing websites. BRUSSELS/LISBON, TODAY – APAJO, the Portuguese online gambling association, has signed up to a European Commission Memorandum of Understanding on online advertising and intellectual property rights, joining other online advertising sector stakeholders who are already working together under the agreement. European countries have approved an EGBA proposal to establish a common European standard on markers of harm in a significant step forward for safer gambling in Europe. Brussels, Today – Members of the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN), the official body responsible for developing standards in Europe, have voted to create a European standard on markers of harm for online gambling. Europe’s gambling market revenue increased 23% this year, driven by the post-pandemic reopening of casinos and betting shops, with total revenue stabilising 8% above pre-pandemic levels.
